California Association of Resource Conservation & DevelopmentAwards Process AnnouncedJuly 1, 2007 Why apply for a State Award? The CARC&DC Awards will provide you and your council with State recognition for a quality program and volunteer participation leading to the betterment of the RC&D Program. Recognition will be based on merit and will provide you with the satisfaction that your program is succeeding in delivering an effective RC&D Program. While everyone is a winner, winning the California Award will help your council increase your ability to attract new volunteers, new funding, and business and /or civic partners. Winners of the California Award in each category will have their nominations forwarded to the PacRim RC&D Association. Winners will be presented at the California Association meeting on October 1-4, 2007. Categories Outstanding Performance by a Council Outstanding Performance by a Council Member Outstanding Performance by a Coordinator Outstanding Supporting Organization Outstanding Youth Involvement Award Outstanding Program Assistant Award Eligibility To be eligible, the nomination must come from a recognized RC&D Council and be submitted by that Council’s President using the attached approved awards process. Remember, each Council President can only submit one nomination per category. How To Apply NOMINEE SUMMARY: (This is the most important part of your entry.) a. Summary should not be more than a total of two double-sided pages. b. Summaries must be typed. Please use a 12 pt. Font. c. Type the Name of the Nominee; Name of the RC&D Council the Nominee is affiliated with, City, State, and Award Nomination Category on the upper right hand corner of the 1st page of your summary. d. Each page should contain a header with the Nominee’s name, Region, and council affiliation. e. Organize your narrative in the same order as the evaluation criteria. Have you answered each question? Add up to 3 double-sided pages of supplemental material numbered 1-6. The purpose of this material is to substantiate the claims made in your summary. This material may not be a continuation of the Summary. This material may include press clips, brochures, photos, letters of endorsement, etc. Please do not include big items such as posters or shirts etc. No videos or disks will be accepted. Submit 10 copies. Judging The Awards Committee members, appointed by the CARC&DC President, will score and prioritize the nominations with recommendations to the CARC&DC President who will select the winner from each category. All Winners will be recognized with a Distinguished Service Certificate. Winners will be announced and recognized at the Awards Banquet during the Fall Conference. Submission Time Line Nominations should be derived from a council awards process. Your Council President will then submit one nomination for each category to the California Association of RC&D Councils Awards Committee for judging. Award Nominees are due to the Awards Committee of the CARC&DC by August 17, 2007. Hard copies of all nomination packets must be in the office on August 17, 2007 and faxed copies will not be accepted. September 19, 2005, Alturas, CA;Chairman for the CARC&DC Awards Committee, Terry Williams, announced today the winners of the 2005, California Association of RC&D Councils, Outstanding Achievement Awards. They are: - Outstanding Performance by a Council; Ore-Cal RC&D Area Council
- Outstanding Performance by a Council Member; George Wright, Ore-Cal RC&D Area Council.
- Outstanding Performance by a Coordinator; Mark Steffek, North Cal-Neva RC&D Area Council.
- Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Organization; Holly George and the California Cooperative Extension Service.
Terry expressed his thanks to everyone who participated and who put so much work into the nominations sent in. These awards are a way to recognize all who make the RC&D organization so successful. Congratulations to everyone. The awards will be presented at the Presidents Dinner and Awards ceremony on Thursday, September 29, at the CARC&DC Annual Conference in Palm Desert, California. - April 2004; Sacramento, California, Linking Leaders to the Legislature was the theme of this year's CARC&DC Spring Leadership Conference. - October 2003; Lake Arrowhead, California: CARC&DC met in Lake Arrowhead for it's annual meeting on October 8, 9, and 10. The event began with a field tour of areas infected by bark beetles, followed by council success stories, awards, and a business meeting on the last day.
